Involvement with the weekly LIVE worship experience.

MEDIA MINISTRY TEAM

The media ministry team is excited to serve Christ and the Church, in a time that people can be reached at a distance and rate that is indeed unprecedented. That is why we are announcing new ministry opportunities to serve that vision. At St. James, we have the ability to provide an online experience to share our worship and the Gospel message live.


To support these ministry opportunities, we invite you to consider how you might help in a technical and creative capacity. We are looking for adults and/or youth (8th grade and above) to learn and be a part of this ministry. There are several different opportunities on this team for you to learn and grow. Listed below, you can find the different positions available, as well as a description.

Slides Operator

To project songs and liturgy on video screen during worship so that people can sing and participate in worship under the direction of the worship leader.

What's expected:

  • Arrive at the church and be ready to serve no later than 8:45 AM on Sunday mornings.
  • Stay until the end of worship service.
  • To learn how to use ProPresenter 7 software.
  • To learn to read and follow along with the Pastor's manuscript in order to change slides on time and correctly display slides on projectors and on the live stream.
  • You will mostly work with the Pastor, Music Team, and Camera Operator.

Camera Operator

To position and switch between multiple cameras during a worship service, helping those worshiping online follow along with whoever is leading worship in that moment.

What's expected:

  • Arrive at the church and be ready to serve no later than 9:00 AM on Sunday mornings.
  • Stay until the end of worship service.
  • To learn how to work cameras, analog stick controller, and ATEM Mini switcher.
  • To learn to read and follow along with the Pastor's manuscript in order to switch between cameras, and position cameras in between different parts of worship to capture correct camera angles in time. Also knowing the proper transitions for the current mood at that moment of worship.
  • You will mostly work with the Pastor, Music Team, and Slides Operator.

Sound Technician

To produce the best possible atmosphere for worship through sound reinforcement. This includes, but is not limited too, creating the best music mix and audio mix possible, meeting the mood the pastor wants to convey. Ultimately, glorify God through providing excellent audio services.

What's expected:

  • Arrive at the church and be ready to serve no later than 9:00 AM on Sunday mornings.
  • Stay until the end of worship service.
  • To learn how to operate the Behringer x32 Compact Sound Board.
  • To learn to read and follow along with the Pastor's manuscript in order to correctly mute and unmute mics in a timely manner.
  • Learn to do sound checks with all those leading worship through music or audio before worship begins.
  • To learn to listen and understand when and how to make adjustments to the in-house audio mix using the sound board.
  • You will mostly work with the Pastor, Music Team, and Live Stream Operator.

Live Stream Operator

To produce the best possible online atmosphere for worship through sound reinforcement. This is specific to the crafting and operation of the outgoing broadcast (livestream) mix, providing an in-house feel and atmosphere to those worshiping with us from wherever they are. Ultimately to glorify God through providing excellent broadcast audio services.

What's expected:

  • Arrive at the church and be ready to serve no later than 9:15 AM on Sunday mornings.
  • Stay until the end of worship service.
  • Use your phone and headphones to be able to listen to sound checks and worship service on the live stream, making sure that the audio coming through on the live stream is balanced and clear.
  • To monitor the worship service online throughout the live stream to ensure that the service is streaming properly, and that all audio and visuals are coming through correctly.
  • You will mostly work with the Pastor, Music Team, and Sound Technician.

Live Chat Host

To connect with our online congregation. Doing ministry by forming meaningful connections, leading meaningful conversation, and leading people to take "Next Steps" on their journey with Christ.

What's expected:

  • Arrive at the church and be ready to serve no later than 9:30 AM on Sunday mornings.
  • Stay until the end of worship service.
  • To have a personal Facebook account you can use as the Live Chat Host.
  • To be able to use a laptop to communicate with the online congregation through the Facebook and YouTube live chat.
  • To be familiar with our church's website, in order to lead people to the correct pages of our website when needed.
  • You will mostly work with the online congregation and Live Stream Operator.

Worship Photographer

To capture the ministries of the church through the lens of a camera while telling a story, helping lead people to participate in those ministries of the church.

What's expected:

  • Arrive at the church and be ready to serve no later than 9:15 AM on Sunday mornings.
  • Stay until the end of worship service.
  • To know how to take clear photos using a smart phone or camera.
  • To be able to take connect with people face to face, take pictures what's going on before, during and after worship.
  • You will mostly work with the in-person congregation.
