What is S.O.A.P.?
Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer
We invite you to read the Bible daily as a congregation in 2021. We will be using the Life Journal Reading Plan which was developed by Rev. Wayne Cordeiro and is designed to help us read through the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice each year. I encourage you to choose one of two options with this reading plan. You can choose Plan A in which you read 3 to 4 chapters in 20-30 minutes. Or if you're just starting out reading God's Word and feel overwhelmed, you can choose Plan B which will be shorter reading in 10-15 minutes. As you read the Bible daily, I invite you to record your time with God using the S.O.A.P. method. Please pick up the S.O.A.P. Method Bookmark and Reading Plan in the Narthex/Lobby.
How to S.O.A.P.
You'll need 4 items (Bible, Pen, Journal, & S.O.A.P. Plan) to S.O.A.P. each day!
Open your Bible to your reading for the day. Take time reading and allow God to speak to you. Write out scripture verses, phrases, or words that speak to you that day.
What do you think God is saying to you in this scripture? Write down what you see in this scripture or paraphrase and write the scripture down in your own words.
Write how this scripture can apply to you today.
Write out your prayer asking the Holy Spirit to help you live God's Word and listen to what God has to say.
