On June 23, 2018, the United Methodist Women united with other groups to help the Youth have a great Food Truck Rodeo. We had no original job but all of you jumped in when you saw a need. Thanks to all of you for help and taking part.
We collected summer items for Callen Lacy during June. Thanks to everyone that supported our mission and service project. Thank you, Debbie, for delivering them to Callen Lacy. If anyone else has items for Callen Lacy, please bring them to church on Sunday.
This summer is flying by and we are still very busy.
The HOPE Circle will be having a meeting, July 5th at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room. They will discuss missions, budget, fall projects, and the reading program.
On July 10, at 1:00 pm both groups are coming together at Olive Garden. Everyone is welcome. It is Dutch Treat. Please
contact Susan Stevens-Crosby 843-822-8245 or firstname.lastname@example.org and let her know if you will be attending. We need to let Olive Garden know how many will be in our party.
Our last meeting for 2018 is August 14, technically but not physically, Please turn in your reading list and anything else you normally turn in. On August 12 after the end of the second service we will be closing out the 2017-2018 year with a pledge for 2018-2019. Please think about how you want to commit your life to the coming year. Remember your pledge. There are four mission efforts that should relate to our and your mission initiatives and priorities of United Methodist Women:
1. To be a community of women
2. Know God
3. Develop a creative and supportive fellowship
4. Expand the concepts of mission
So, start thinking about how you will commit yourself. This is why we take this special time to recommit ourselves to the
mission of the United Methodist Women. Then, in September, we plan the 2018-2019 year. We will develop our plans in each group for what we will do during the coming year. There will be times both groups will work together as they did on Saturday, and other times they will work on different service projects. Bring your ideas to the August meeting.
Spectators are free, and there will be food and drinks for sale. The cost to enter and register for the Car Show is $15 (paid at the show). There will be trophies awarded for each class. Along with the Car Show there will be a Swap Meet (outside). If you’re looking to buy or sell any hard-to-find classic automotive parts, memorabilia, or vintage collectibles this is the Swap Meet to come and see. We are looking for Swap Meet Vendors ($15 for a space).
[Sponsored by UMM’s Group]
We will also have a Veterans’ Car Wash going on at the same time. Feel free to come by and get your car washed or even just to make a donation. Proceeds from the car wash will go towards helping out our Veterans’ Ministry. Come out for a day of Fun, Food, and Fellowship!
Donate for Kids
IGNITE Youth Ministries will
be collecting Book Bags and School Supplies that day. These items will help and go
towards kids that are
connected to us through our Faith, Hope, and Love Ministry, along with local schools. We are asking for book bags and school supplies for all grades K-12. Sunday, July 1, and going on throughout the entire month of July, the IGNITE Youth Ministries will be collecting book bags and school supplies. We will use these to donate to any kids connected to us through Faith, Hope, and Love, and then any local schools.
We are asking for any and all school supplies and book bags for grades K-12. As we get in school supplies we will evenly distribute them with the book bags, so we will take any supplies.
On July 28, during the Car Show / Veterans’ Car Wash, we will also be collecting supplies and book bags from the community. Please spread the word and let’s help make a difference St. James!
Thank you to every ministry and every person who volunteered, donated, or participated in the Food Truck Rodeo
& Veterans’ Car Wash.
IGNITE Youth Ministries made $1,050+ and Veterans/Faith,
Hope, & Love made $461.
We could not have made this wonderful event a success
without each and every one of you!
Taylor, Hope, & Susan
Many thanks to Susan Stevens Crosby who did the wonderful slide show of Pastor Suzanne on June 24. The music from Master Plan which accompanied IT was lovely.

Chair of Finance
We are collecting soda pop tabs to benefit Ronald McDonald House. They can be put in the zip lock bag on the UMW bulletin board, or the zip lock bag in the fellowship hall by the kitchen, or given to Nancy LeBeau.
If you would like to provide the altar flowers for a certain Sunday, please print your name on the calendar (in the lobby) on the date you wish to provide the flowers. Also, please print the name(s) of person(s) you are honoring or remembering and the special occasion. This information will be placed in the bulletin. There are two options for providing flowers:
1. Have the flowers automatically ordered through the church office. The cost is $40.00 and are delivered to the church. You then make your check payable to St. James UMC.
2. You can provide your own flowers, You will be responsible for purchasing the flowers, picking up the arrangement and getting it to the church by 8:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. You must contact the church two weeks prior to placing the flowers to prevent an automatic order to the florist.
The flowers are yours to keep after the Services are over
